Science Talent Development 2025
2025 has been an exciting year for the Science department where our students enjoyed multiple platforms and opportunities to stretch their potential in Science beyond the classroom.
2 teams submitted their projects for the 26th International Elementz Fair organised by ASRJC. The teams explored a diverse range of topics that enabled their scientific learning to be enhanced.
We are proud that the team “Defending Your Dermis: A Comparative Study of Organic and Synthetic Sunscreens” won a silver award and the team ‘A Peel-ingly Clean Laundry: A comparative study evaluation the efficacy of homemade fruit peel extracts in cleaning” won the Bronze award.
Team members of the ‘A Peel-ingly Clean Laundry: A comparative study evaluation the efficacy of homemade fruit peel extracts in cleaning ‘ project are:

Beyond competitions, our department organised learning journeys to the i-Fly, the Sustainable Gallery at Marina Barage and Republic Polytechnic. Students also attended various external workshops such as ‘Understanding STEM with Ocean Acidification’ and ‘Introduction to Microcomputers’ at the Science Centre. During the Science Challenge Week in July, both in-house and external activities were conducted.
Students enjoyed learning about marine organisms with the Marine Touch Tank and the hands-on Squid dissection, learnt to make fruit jam and identify chemicals in the ‘Lab Mystery’ activity as they experienced joy in the learning of Science. Sec 1 students had the opportunity to study water quality at AMK-Bishan Park in a collaborative study with the Geography unit.
We hope to continue organising a wide range of activities for the development of our students’ active learning in Science and help them appreciate the Science around them.
